El Charco del Ingenio

Image
A well-cared-for nature preserve just on the outskirts of our town in Mexico.  Cacti that we never see in New Orleans, U.S., our main residence. Besides the lovely architecture, colors, music, food and festivities of San Miguel de Allende, there are also trails and other natural settings to visit. Never a boring moment!

Hot Air Balloons

Early one morning we heard a strange series of sounds that were foreign to our ears.  We scurried up the metal staircase to the rooftop terrace of our casita.  What a delight to see hot air balloons hovering over our neighborhood, seemingly close enough to reach up and touch.  All this from our casita in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Casita Om, our piece of paradise

In north-central Mexico, where the Independence Movement took root, some 6400 ft. above sea level, is a town called San Miguel de Allende.  Population of approximately 170,000, of which roughly 20 percent is foreign.  The beautiful architecture, culture and events make this town a mecca for Mexicans from all over as well as foreign travelers.  Often enough, after visiting here, people decide to stay, or get a place to call second home.  We were entranced like so many others.  And this time we found a piece of paradise for us to enjoy as often as we like.  Casita Om and environs:
